I began reading this book because I was asked to do an honest review of Enigma by Tonya Kuper … but coming into a series that really needs you to stay in order. Well, I had to pick up book one 1st.
So, I began reading Anomaly. Entering a world that has a special type of people: Pushers, Retracters & Anomalies. I would go into what these individuals are but that would be a bit of a spoiler for this book.
In this book you will learn who Josie is. What her link to this entire series is, as well as the powers she has. You will, also, find that her parents are not what you would call the “normal” type of parents. (No they are not abusive, but they are definitely not normal.)
You will also meet Reid and discover who he use to be. You will find out what he is able to do. But Reid has several secrets that could harm his any type of relationship with Josie. He just has to have to nerve to tell her or not to tell her … problem is, if you don’t tell someone, eventually those secrets will come to light even if you don’t want them too.
You will meet Santos, who is Reid’s teammate & best friend in all this. He here to help train Josie with the powers she get’s on her 17th birthday … yea, what a way to discover you are just a bit different!
There are a lot of twists in this story. Ups & downs plus things you just don’t think would actually believe would happen in our world … they definitely happen in this one.
Ms. Kuper writing is definitely worth reading. She has created characters that are full & intriguing. Ones that make you want to keep reading, to find out what they will do next in a world made just for them. I am excited to read the next book in this series!!!

Open book … read harshness that you want to leave, but bloody Hades if Ms. Kelly doesn’t keep you reading just so you know what happens to the main character. (Which completely drives me nuts at times, but then that is life … suck it up & move on!)
Dragonian Xanthus is walking on land to prevent a war between humans & the inhabitants of the oceans. Mankind is doing it’s best to destroy the oceans, this is something that we do in our world because so many don’t stop & think. (We have all done it, but sadly some just keep on doing it.) This Dragonian took a HUGE chance going Triton to prevent this war.
Triton is the father of mermaids/mermen, who were all wipe out due to Poseidon ordering the Dragonian to eliminate them all. Because of this, Triton despise all of the Dragonian (even if they were born after all the deaths of his children) … but can you blame him?
Xanthus comes across a 1/2 human & Dragonian, who by law he must kill. This woman has lived her entire live in a wheel chair because she has a skin colored tail fin. Not knowing that she was 1/2 anything, but simply disfigured, Sara Taylor is about to find out more is actually living in the world than she every believed.
Discovering that she can actually breath underwater and learning swim, takes up so much of her time with Xanthus. That she does not question a lot of the how’s until running in to Xanthus’ brother … let’s just creep with a tale-fin & creep is being NICE about it!!
This new world you will discover a little bit of fantasy followed by many reasons not to keep pollute this planet. Great way to bring it across, put many of the reasons in a fantasy tale that pulls you in (but not to the pollution aspect) to characters and how they came to be.
Both of these two will have to fight long & hard to complete the task set out before them, for themselves as well as for each other. Ms. Kelly has create characters that work well together (even the ones you despise) in a world where fantasy can be found pretty much at your front door.

I have to give a Ms. McDaniel a round of apologize on this story. The title is what pulled me into reading the book, but thankfully it had some type of cover or I would have blown it off.
I am sorry to all the authors out there … but I have this HUGE problem … if there is NO cover, I just cannot pull myself into reading the book or eBook. Yes, that is horrid for a bookaholic to state, but I have tried in the past, only to find the books/eBooks not worth the time. So, from those experiences … well, that is why I just find myself not reading the books, I have tried but I just cannot.
The cover is typical of a romance-type novel … interesting background with some appealing individual on the front. Suppose to pull your eye to the cover. But to be honest, with a title like Cupid Stupid, you could have ditched the individual!!!
I have not bothered to see if there is truly a Cupid Texas, but the detail that Ms. McDaniel goes into writing about this town … there really doesn’t need to be. Because you can picture what she is describing without researching it. Then she puts all that into the tale & the characters, which pull you in & make you want to read to the end.
Cupid Texas has a Cupid Statue with an interesting rumor. If you dance NAKED (oh the poor fool who does LOL) around the statue you will find true love. Hmmm, if this town exists I feel for the local law enforcement … well, may not LOL.
3 life times friends have finally all moved back to their sweet but interesting home town. And on one night of being a little blitzed on wine (can people really get drunk on wine? I can’t stand it unless it’s the German Hot Wine), decide to dance around Cupid to find true love. Well, actually two of them want that but the 3rd has been burnt to a crisp. Therefore wanting NOTHING to do with love or relationships.
Wanna guess which character starts off this series?? Yep, Miss I-don’t-want-a-relationship-or-love but the catch is with the individual who is chasing her down … one of her best friends EX’s. Oh, let’s not forget he is the town SHERRIFF. I about died when I read that little bit, sure it’s one thing to be chased by the law if you broke it. But it’s a complete different story when they want to see if you are “the one.”
I read this book, because it had an interesting title. I love books like that. But now I curious as to how Ms. McDaniel’s gonna pull of the other two love takes. Both of which have interesting tales behind them.
Had the title not drawn me in, I would not have more books to add to my never ending list of reads. But when you create a title like this, it is calling “read me, read me.” Until you give up and start with page 1.

Oh baby …. let me tell you when I 1st started with this book, Truly Deadly, I was not really sure that it would pull me in. (Mr. Aspinall PLEASE do not take offense.) It begins:
”Sixteen and my life is basically over. And, no, I am not being dramatic”
Mr. Aspinall gives you a Prologue that is from deep with in the book. A teaser, to pull you into reading more to find out exactly how a 16 yr. old could have her life really ending. Suicide? Murder? Accident? ‘Oh me, Oh my what do we have here?’
”I kept the accelarator planted on the floor, doing over a hundred, with the grille of a Range Rover twisted in a tangle of metal to the rear bumper of the ambulance, driven by a grim-faced bitch doing her best to run us off the road.”
Ok, now you have me interested a bit more … why in Hades would a 16 yr. old be flooring an ambulance with another some how attached to it? LOL guess Mr. Aspinall had the right idea after all. Put a thrilling section from deep in the world this teen is living in. ‘Slam, bam, Thank You Ma’am’ kinda way. Which once you begin reading the next section you will just keep on reading.
I was a bit off because I had to adapt my thinking to a European’s thoughts. Some of the words almost threw me off, thinking the spelling was off or worse the 16 yr. old just used slang way too much. But nope, that was not the issue. It was written “breezy old Manchester of England.” Oh, don’t get me wrong, the MC is a 16 yr. old so there sure did use slang & bloody “#” (uggg I get annoyed when it’s hash tag ‘up the wazzoo. )
Will I keep on reading this series. Hmm, let me think for a second or soooo … Bloody Hades I will!!!
Mr. Aspinall created an interesting character in Lorna Walker. Plus when you add in a few others, you can see how she will become more & more “well-rounded.” (is that the proper word? Hmm, I really don’t know. But you are watching a 16 yr. old fight to stay alive after receiving a heart transplant.
Lorna doesn’t back down. She puts one foot in front of the other & hauls arse to keep herself alive. As well as others that she knows or has run across in this tail of … mystery, murder, mayhem … how an organization, hidden so deep, wants her dead because of a list. One that curiosity really killed the cat, because that is what caused her to be brought to their attention!
I cannot wait to see what happens to Lorna in the following book, Infinite Kill. To find out if she can trust those she is with, or if it is just some set up to bring her in.

Every so often I find historical romances. The title interests me, or in this case the series, and I start reading. I must say that I am pretty impressed that they were able to put together this series with a variety of authors.
Meet Adele Vere, who is the perfect English governess. Or at least that is the front that was raised to show. Well, that is after the death of her mother. She was taken in by a couple, that raised her to be better than what she would have had otherwise (in this time).
Edward Coyne is the stable master. Who, it would seem, is set out to break through the mask Ms. Vere is hiding behind. He thinks that there is more to her than the “proper English governess.”
There is a fire that almost destroys any chance of Mr. Coyne from finding out what is behind that mask. Will they be able to over come this incident? Will Ms. Vere be able to forgive Mr. Coyne’s actions? Much less her own?
There are a lot things that can be told, but if they are … well, I should just tell the entire story. I don’t providing spoilers, they ruin the read.
Ms. Turner has created a tale of two people who have so much to deal with in life. Where they will be in months to come, as well as parts of their pasts. She creates an interesting tale involving some of the staff currently at the Beckworth estate.
As for the series … yes, I had to read them all. “Bloody Hell” how was I to find out what happened to all the extra characters in the book. (Just keep reading the letters from the head housekeeper & lawyer … they are interesting & would have made a GREAT story to go with this series!)

Personally, I would not be sure exactly how I would react if I found out that I was being “watched for my own safety” for the majority of my life.
In this story, you have a young woman, Kris, who was saved by her “dark angel” but her mother (or the only mother she knew) was violent murdered. This young child refuses to believe that she made up the man who saved her, and she holds on to that for years. Being rescued by him more than she actually knows, but only remember a few times.
Letting the harshness of her life pile down on her, Kris becomes an alcoholic. Using it as an escape from her life … pretty much every single night.
On the anniversary of her mother’s death, Kris wakes to find herself in an apartment with some man she decided to smoke pot with. Even though the 1st time she did, she had a horrid reaction … guess alcohol can cause your brain to shut down. When she stumbles into the alley, the same one her mother died in, Kris completely looses it. She wants to know why she was saved … because from her view point, there was not reason. During this ranting and raving, Kris decides to prove to herself once & for all that her “dark angel” is not something she made up.
Derrick is the “dark angel.” But he has to abide by the laws of his kind. They are to stay invisible to the world. Not be the heroes they once where because now with the technology mankind has, it would be far to easy for the government to locate them & well, who really knows from there.
There is a lot of cleaning up & fixing each other in this tale. Ridding Kris of the need for alcohol. Having her accepted into the family. Hunting down the rogue Creatus, who savagely kills humans to prove they are beneath Creatus.
Yes, the characters could have used some extra building. But they were not that bad. You are mainly following Derrick and his path to become the individual he needs to be to save his family from the destruction of the Rogue Creatus. But you cannot have a hero without a damsel in distress … this tale would have fallen flat on it’s face otherwise.
Ms. DeSousa creates a unique world where the heroes of the past are still with us. She gives you a young Creatus who must decide for himself what is important and what is not, plus how much he will risk for it. She provides humans to spice up the story, even if we do not agree with how they were in the beginning … we watch as they learn to change as well.

Ever wonder where they get the legends of the mighty heroes that saved so many? Well, Ms. DeSousa has created a world & heroes, but they are not exactly who or what you would think they were. She gives them such personalities, that keeps you reading from one story to the next. (LOL I read 3 of the novels, and I am going to get the next ASAP.)
But when Ms. DeSousa created these Creatus’ she has to create human’s they might run across or know. Human’s that meant something to these Creatus’, whether it was negative or positive. She provides them with a large variety of personalities … some you want to bitch-slap & tell them to pull their heads out of the rear-ends & others you just want to hug or get to know.
Creatus have been on Earth for around 4,000 yrs. but have managed to stay pretty much hidden by becoming doctors or lawyers. But they have security, that will sweep in and move the Creatus or the Creatus family if they are discovered. But sadly with mankind becoming more advance … computers, video cameras, photography … the Creatus have pretty much found a way to “hide” themselves in communities & schools that go above & beyond to protect the young. Plus they usually “hide” the birth for years before creating a birth certificate.
This story tells of a “young” Creatus, who meets a young woman in medical school. There is a connection with this woman, but it is not the connections that will cause him to be forever bound to her.
See, when Creatus’ fall in love, there is a connection that will keep them bound to the other party for life. They are usually the ones who you read about when couples die within days of each other, the connection is that strong.
This woman, Derrick (Creatus) feels the need to protect. He will not know why until years down the road. But the overwhelming desire to keep her safe makes Derrick “watch” from the roof tops each & every night she is out. Something that the older generations of Creatus would do … until it was too risky being caught on any type of camera. Or worse because someone would use the internet to discover that this amazing hero who could leap most tall buildings was helping keep the city safe.
This is the beginning tale of a great series. It draws you in & once it has you … you want to keep reading. It does not create just one hero, like you would find in Superman, but she has created a societies of them.
